He said that based on the billions of dollars being generated from his tariff policy, every American could receive a $2,000 tariff dividend (excluding high-income earners).
Trump posted on Truth Social claiming that his tariffs are generating trillions of dollars in revenue, which will not only help in reducing national debt, but also provide a direct financial benefit to American citizens.

According to Bessent, these tax benefits themselves could equal the $2,000 dividend Trump is referring to.

If a direct payment were to be issued, Congress would need to pass a new law.

- If all Americans earning under $100,000 are eligible (about 150 million adults),
- At $2,000 each, the cost would be nearly $300 billion.
