JPU has announced major decisions on 75% attendance, PG library study, hybrid classes, hostels, infrastructure and student grievance redressal 2026

Chhapra, Bihar News: Jai Prakash University (JPU) has taken several important decisions within the last five days to improve academic discipline, administrative efficiency, infrastructure and student services. The university administration has now started the process of implementing these decisions across its departments and affiliated colleges.

JPU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Parmendra Kumar Bajpai shared details of the recent decisions with journalists on Saturday. The decisions cover 75% attendance, postgraduate library study, hybrid classes, student hostels, infrastructure facilities and grievance redressal.

75% Attendance Made Mandatory at JPU-During a meeting of all deans and postgraduate department heads on September 7, JPU decided to strictly implement the 75% attendance requirement for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

According to the university, students will need permission from their respective department heads before filling out examination forms. The move is aimed at improving regular classroom attendance and ensuring that courses are completed within the scheduled academic period.

PG Students Required to Study in Library-Another major decision concerns postgraduate students. The university has decided that PG students should spend at least one hour every day studying in the library.

The initiative is intended to encourage regular study habits and promote academic as well as research-oriented activities among postgraduate students.

Hybrid Classes for Flood-Affected Students-JPU has also directed colleges and departments to use a hybrid mode of education where necessary in flood-affected areas.

Under this arrangement, students can continue their studies through online and offline classes depending on local conditions. The decision is expected to help prevent disruption to academic activities during difficult circumstances.

Hostel Initiative for Every College, The university administration has decided to take steps toward establishing at least one hostel in every college.

JPU officials are collecting information about existing hostel facilities from colleges. Where hostels already exist but are not functional, efforts will reportedly be made to make them operational. The objective is to improve accommodation facilities for students and provide better support for those who need campus-based housing.

Responsibility for Electricity and Water Facilities-Deans have been assigned responsibility for ensuring uninterrupted basic facilities such as electricity and water in departments and classrooms. The university administration has stated that infrastructure-related problems should not affect teaching and learning activities.

Research Scholars May Support Teaching-To address teacher shortages in colleges, JPU has allowed scholars registered for PhD programmes in 2023 to take classes at the colleges of their research supervisors.

The university is also providing training related to teaching and technology. Officials expect this initiative to support regular classroom operations in colleges facing a shortage of teachers.

Student Help Desks to Be Monitored-JPU has constituted a committee under the chairpersonship of the Dean of Student Welfare to monitor the functioning of student help desks in colleges.

Students dealing with issues such as marksheet correction and other academic problems will have to submit applications with the required documents at their college help desk and obtain an acknowledgement.

The college principal will be required to forward the complaint to the university within one week. The university will then attempt to resolve the matter within the following two weeks. If a student’s problem remains unresolved for one month after submission, the student can submit a written complaint to the university help centre. Such complaints are expected to be addressed within one week.

The university has also indicated that action may be taken against employees found responsible for unnecessary delays.JPU
