Police in the Kateya police station area have arrested a notorious suspect who defrauded people of lakhs of rupees under the guise of sending them abroad on tourist visas.
This action was taken based on a press release issued by the Superintendent of Police, Gopalganj, on February 8, 2026.
What is the full story? According to police, on December 12, 2025, Amresh Kumar Yadav, a resident of the Kateya police station area, filed a complaint alleging that he had been defrauded of Rs. 2 lakh under the guise of sending them abroad on a tourist visa.
The accused prepared documents in the name of a Russian and sent him to Kazakhstan on a tourist visa, and later demanded an additional Rs. 50,000 in exchange for the visa being revoked.
Based on the complaint, Kateya Police Station registered Case No. 696/25 and initiated an investigation under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Acting swiftly, the police arrested the named accused.
