Sensational theft worth crores of rupees took place at the Thawe Bhawani temple, where thieves made off with a gold crown worth 51 lakh rupees, the mother’s jewellery, and a 50 kg donation box. The incident was captured on CCTV.
Tds Viral News, Gopalganj – The most significant and sensational news of the moment has emerged from Gopalganj district, Bihar. Last night, a major theft worth crores of rupees occurred at the district’s famous and historic Thawe Bhawani Temple.
The thieves entered the sanctum sanctorum of the temple and fled away with the precious jewellery of Goddess Durga, a gold crown worth Rs 51 lakh, a silver umbrella, a necklace and a donation box (locker) weighing about 50 kg.
This incident not only raises questions about the temple administration’s security arrangements, but also deeply hurts the faith of millions of devotees.
This theft occurred just before Sharadiya Navratri, when the temple is visited by a large crowd of devotees.
The incident occurred late at night, with two thieves captured on CCTV. – According to information received, the theft occurred between 11:30 and 12:00 pm.
The thieves entered the sanctum sanctorum via a ladder and rope from the rooftop adjacent to the temple. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed within the temple premises.
The footage clearly shows two thieves inside the temple. One thief has his face covered with a black muffler, while the other is wearing a cap.
Shockingly, one of the thieves appears barefoot. One is also seen holding a cutter, which was used to cut the lock.
CCTV footage shows the thieves taking away the donation box and the mother’s jewellery. The most serious question is why no security personnel were present at the scene.
It is being reported that the security personnel on duty were asleep, which the thieves took advantage of to commit the crime.
Gold crown worth 5.1 million rupees was also stolen – The most notable item stolen from the temple is a 251-gram gold crown, estimated to be worth approximately 5.1 million rupees.
This crown was offered to Goddess Thawe Bhawani last year by a businessman from Jharkhand.
In addition, the thieves also stole gold and silver necklaces, a silver umbrella, and the temple’s donation box (locker). Initial estimates put the total loss at crores of rupees.
When the priest and temple staff arrived for the puja on Thursday morning, they found the temple’s contents scattered and the ornaments missing from the idol. The sight left everyone stunned.
Within a short time, news of the theft spread like wildfire throughout the area. A large crowd of locals and devotees gathered at the temple complex.
People are deeply outraged at how such a major security lapse occurred at such a famous and sensitive religious site.
Gopalganj and Thawe police and administration on alert, investigation intensified – As soon as information was received, a local police team arrived at the scene and the entire temple complex was cordoned off. Police are examining CCTV footage to identify the thieves.
Thawe temple – SP Awadhesh Dixit said, Two thieves committed a theft at the Thawe temple last night between 11:30 and 12:00. I am personally inspecting the scene. The FSL team and dog squad have also been called in for investigation.
MLC Rajiv Kumar said, The theft at the Maa Thawe Bhawani Temple is extremely sad. Whenever Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Bihar, he mentions Maa Bhawani in his address. This is a center of our faith.
The Superintendent of Police is personally monitoring the case. The accused will be arrested soon and strict action will be taken.
Following the Thawe Temple incident, a major question has arisen regarding the security of temples. MLC Rajiv Kumar stated that a security audit of all monasteries and temples under the Trust Board has been discussed.
Instructions will be given to install CCTV cameras in all temples, keep their ID-passwords with the administration, and ensure security of properties.
The history of the Thawe Bhawani Temple is 500 years old – The Thawe Bhawani Temple in Gopalganj is believed to be over 500 years old. It is believed that the Mother Goddess came here on foot from Kamakhya at the call of her devotee, Rahshu. Along the way,
the Mother Goddess stopped at three places: Dakshineswar Kali in Kolkata, Badi Patan Devi in Patna, and Ami Temple in Saran.
Thawe Bhawani is also known as Singhasani Bhawani and Rahshu Bhawani. Millions of devotees visit the temple during Sharadiya and Chaitra Navratri. On Thursday, the first day of Navratri, nearly 100,000 devotees visited.
