According to information received, the arrested revenue officer is Vijay Kumar Singh, posted at the Barauli block office.

Revenue officer arrested, The bribe was demanded for the land mutation – this entire case concerns Shailendra Sah, a resident of Bagheji village in Barauli block.
Shailendra Sah was making rounds of the block office to obtain the mutation of approximately 9 decimals of his land.
It is alleged that Revenue Officer Vijay Kumar Singh demanded a bribe of ₹10,000 to complete this work.
Shailendra Sah claims that he is a simple man and was unable to pay such a large sum.
Despite this, the officer continued to pressure him to pay. Despite numerous visits to the office, the work remained unresolved, and the bribe demand was repeated each time.
Revenue officer arrested | Complaint to the Vigilance Department – Fed up with the bribe, Shailendra Sah finally approached the Vigilance Department in Patna. He filed a written complaint about the entire matter.
The Vigilance Department took the complaint seriously and first verified it. The investigation found that the Revenue Officer was demanding bribes for the mutation process.
Following the verification, the Vigilance Department formed a special raid team and took action as planned.
The amount was reduced from 10,000 to 6,500 rupees. Narendra Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Vigilance Department, stated that the revenue officer initially demanded 10,000 rupees.
The amount was later settled on 6,500 rupees during negotiations. As planned, as soon as Shailendra Sah handed over the bribe amount to the officer, the vigilance team, already present there, took immediate action and caught him red-handed.
During the arrest, the bribe amount was also recovered from the scene. Following this, the officer was taken into custody and further legal proceedings were initiated.
Take Revenue Officer Vijay Kumar Singh to Patna for questioning – Immediately after the arrest, the Vigilance Department team took him to Patna.
He will be questioned in detail there. Officials say that during the interrogation, it will also be investigated whether other people are involved in similar cases or whether similar activities have occurred before.
The Vigilance Department has registered a case under relevant sections in this matter, and further legal proceedings are underway.
As soon as this case came to light, the administrative department of Gopalganj district was in a state of shock.
