Chhapra, Bihar News: Jay Prakash University (JPU) is set to expand its sports activities and improve facilities for students and athletes. The university sports committee discussed several important proposals during a meeting held at the Senate Hall on Friday.
The meeting was organized on the instructions of Vice Chancellor Prof. Parmendra Kumar Bajpai and was chaired by Prof. Ajit Kumar Tiwari. Sports officers from different affiliated colleges attended the meeting along with members of the university sports committee. Former Sports Secretary Prof. Vishwamitra Pandey was also present as a special invitee.
JPU Sports Committee Discusses 10 Key Proposals-The committee discussed around 10 important points related to sports development at Jay Prakash University. These included the revised sports calendar, inter-college competitions, athlete selection, utilization of the sports fund and expansion of sports facilities.
Sports Director Prof. Rajesh Kumar Nayak instructed college sports in-charges to actively participate in the organizing committees for upcoming inter-college competitions.
The committee also discussed transferring the sports fees collected from students during university admissions between 2023 and 2026 to the university sports fund. The amount may be allocated between the university and colleges according to applicable rules and used for conducting competitions and developing sports infrastructure.
JPU Sports 2026 Certificates and Better Sports Facilities-Another proposal discussed during the meeting was issuing participation certificates to students who have represented JPU in inter-university competitions.
The committee also considered developing Centers of Excellence for Sports at colleges. Such centers could provide students with better training opportunities, sports infrastructure and facilities. JPU Sports Quota May Be Introduced in JPU Admissions-One of the important proposals discussed was the possibility of introducing a sports quota in JPU admissions.
